Sonic Boom seem like a ticking time bomb for anyone who dare work on the series in anyways. If your a 90s kid you remember all those Sonic cartoons and comic books that exist to give the audience awareness and hype for future products while Sonic Team works on the games for Sega's mainline consoles back than so it seem Sonic being in the hands of western developers was the breath of fresh air we needed. That doesn't sound like a bad thing on the surface. In 2013, we heard rumors of Sonic getting rebooted for an american audience. Ok, so it seem Sonic's strong suit is spin-off titles so I guess if the main games don't offer up anything of value than we can turn to the spin-off series correct? Well. With the series starting to rebrand itself it was time for some old tropes and staples to be discarded in favor of new, fresh, tired out tropes, and flat line ideas. Ok, I won't beat around the brush where Sonic fans (The ones who aren't hook on gameplay or kiddy content) universally agree that the 2010s was the WORST decade for Sonic, at best it's really a "meh" era.

That's great! Everyone biggest problem with the 2000s' games were a lot of them were too experimental to the point the actual product suffer so giving games more time in the oven to cook while fleshing out good ideas sound like a win-win for the everyone, right? Sega and Sonic Team agree with you on Sonic operate best in 2d (despite Sonic 4 being mocked) and Sonic stories was beginning to take themselves too seriously (to the 3% that saw this as an issue) and promise us games that no longer needed to rely on serious tropes, deep characters (or any characters for that matter), and plots to complicated for casual gamers (I guess), but mainly their main promise was to improve the quality of the games and build a better relation with the fans. if you were the 10 people who was bitching the whole latter half of the 2000s. The 2010s seem to open up with big promises for Sonic.
